The York County Sheriff’s Office offers exciting employment opportunities for those seeking a career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff.
Deputy Sheriffs may be assigned to work in the Courts/Security Division, Central Processing Division, Transports Division, Civil Process Division, or Warrants Division.
Additionally, deputies may seek to be part of the K9 Division, Bike Patrol, Civil Unrest Unit, Community Services Unit or the York County Quick Response Team.
All applicants must complete a rigorous pre-employment and training process to become a sworn law enforcement officer. This includes a thorough background investigation, pre-employment physical, drug screening, physical agility test, oral board interview, and a psychological evaluation in addition to attending the 19-week training academy in State College, Pennsylvania. If you are currently Act 2 (Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff's Education and Training Board) or Act 120 (Municipal Police Officer Education and Training Commission) certified, this training may be abbreviated or waived.
