Financial Benefits
The Pennsylvania Lottery Fund delegates money solely for older citizens by providing millions of dollars, which support programs to meet the specific needs of the Commonwealth's older citizens. There are also many special benefits and discounts available for older citizens through other state and local programs. This section provides information about some of these programs. If you meet the eligibility criteria, we encourage you to take advantage of these benefits.

Automobile Insurance Discounts
Pennsylvania has a mandated discount on automobile insurance for drivers (aged 55 and above) who complete a mature driver improvement course.

Dog Licenses
If you are 65 years of age or older or disabled, you can obtain licenses for your dog(s) at a reduced price through the York County Treasurer's Office.

Hunting & Fishing Licenses
If you are 65 years of age or older, you are eligible for reduced rates on hunting and fishing licenses.

Low Income Home Energy (LIHEAP)
The Pennsylvania Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low income people pay their heating bills through energy assistance grants.

Medicare Savings
The Medicare Savings Program (Healthy Horizons) helps eligible elderly and disabled Pennsylvanians to pay for some or all of Medicare’s premiums.

Motor Vehicle Registration
If you are retired and have a total income from all sources not exceeding $19,200 (each person), you may be eligible for a motor vehicle registration for a $10 processing fee.

Rent Rebate
You may be eligible for a rent rebate.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
These benefits are used to buy food and help eligible low-income households in Pennsylvania obtain more nutritious diets by increasing their food purchasing power at grocery stores and supermarkets.

You may be eligible for the York City Sewer Rental rebate.

This program helps people who have a limited income so that they can lower their fuel bills, save energy, and have more comfortable homes in the process.
